Welcome Rhonda!

Rhonda Halverson is welcomed into membership at Hill Country Lutheran Church.

“So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.” - 1 Corinthians 3:7

We rejoice and give thanks and praise to God for growth in these long winter days. Hill Country added its first new adult member by transfer and confession of faith on the evening of Thursday December 11th. Rhonda Halverson has spent the last 15 years or so living in Viroqua. She moved from southern California, where she was a member at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Irvine, CA. She is also a graduate of Concordia University in Irvine. She moved here to be near her son and his family. Her grandchildren are far more important to her than sunny California. The only thing missing for her was a local LCMS congregation.

Rhonda was thrilled when she heard that Hill Country had come to Viroqua. She had been praying for years for God to bring a LCMS congregation to her. She walked in the first evening that she visited Hill Country saying that this church was the answer to her prayers. Rhonda has longed to be able to regularly attend a faithful church that centered itself in Christ’s Words and to receive His body and blood. She is also the answer to our prayers. We couldn’t be happier to welcome her into our family at Hill Country and give her a place of refuge in Christ among the hills of Vernon County.

We pray that the LORD would continue to bless His mission here at Hill Country and that He would continue to remind us that we are but his faithful farmers, planting and watering. He will give the growth. The ground outside may be covered with snow, but God’s mission field is white for the harvest. LORD, keep us steadfast in Your Word and faithful proclaimers of Your Gospel from the hills as we await the advent of our King and Savior, Jesus Christ.
